It was even all the way when Frölunda met Timrå at home in the SHL. Only after penalties could the teams be separated. The home team was cooler in the finals and won 3-2 (0-1, 0-0, 2-1, 0-0, 1-0). Mikael Ruohomaa became the hero in the shootout.
This means that Frölunda now has six wins in a row in the SHL, and has eight straight wins at home.
Timrå took the lead after 17 minutes of play, through Filip Hållander assisted by Magnus Pääjärvi and Robin Hanzl.
The second period was goalless. 7.11 into the third period, Filip Hållander struck again on passes from Tim Erixon and Anton Wedin and increased the lead for Timrå.
Acknowledged – with nine seconds left
10.28 into the period Frölunda’s Mikael Ruohomaa netted on a pass from Henrik Tömmernes and Jere Innala and reduced for Frölunda.
The team equalized at 2-2 with nine seconds left to play through Carl Klingberg played by Malte Strömwall and Nicklas Lasu.
In the penalty shootout, it was Frölunda who decided 3-2. Mikael Ruohomaa took the decisive penalty.
Timrå outside the top six
This was Frölunda’s 14th odd-goal victory this season. The loss was also Timrå’s ninth odd-goal loss.
For Frölunda, the result means that they are now in fourth place in the table, while Timrå is in seventh place. A nice lift for Frölunda, which was in eighth place as recently as January 24.
On Thursday 15 February at 19.00 Frölunda plays at home against Växjö, and Timrå at home against Malmö.
