Frölunda’s team:

Chains:
12 Max Friberg–75 David Edstrom–88 Malte Strömwall
21 Jere Innala–39 Michael Ruhoma–67 Jayden Halbgewachs
17 Isac Born–31 Nicklas Lasu–22 Linus Nässén
86 Erik Thorell–32 Noah Hasa–18 Linus Öberg
48 Carl Klingberg

Backing:
7 Henrik Tömmernes–25 Pontus Johansson
33 Linus Högberg–3 Albin Sundin
26 Isaac Heens–2 Christian Folin

Goalkeeper:
1 Lasse Johansson (50 Frans Tuohimaa)

Linus Öberg in on twelve forwards, Calle Klingberg set up as an extra. Mikael Ruohomaa and David Edstrom left where they finished game 6. Tom Nilsson (foot?) still missing as expected. As for Filip Hasa, it is still unclear when his neck allows play, when the symptoms (dizziness, nausea) are so rare that he is deemed okay.

Quick recap otherwise for those who haven’t followed along:

Otto Stenberg plays with Bik Karlskoga in the Allsvenskan playoffs and does so productively and successfully, is dual registered, can move freely between clubs. Noah Dower Nilsson has undergone yet another shoulder operation in Detroit, USA. The season is thus over. He should be in action when next season starts. Gustav Rydahl’s back surgery was successful, the nerve pain in the leg gone, Rydahl should be able to participate in August when training starts after the holidays. Mats Rosseli Olsen, you know the situation, he is far from playing hockey but is said to be feeling a little better now.

You probably know that Leksand got Kalle Östman suspended for three games (second tonight). Marek Hrivik is not playing tonight, he only lasted one period on Boxing Day, but is Justin Kloos now with again.

***

A bit fast:

## Marek Hriviks starting on Monday was therefore a bit of a gamble, but not so stupid to be able to replace him with Justin Kloos. Really sharp Leksandskedja that, Kloos with Mikael Karlberg and Oskar Lang.In Frölunda it will be interesting to see if Malte Strömwall and Max Friberg get out more with David Edstrom and also what Mikael Ruohomaa can do with Win Innala and Jayden Halbgewachs who have such nice chemistry.
Linus Öberg in, the fourth chain reunited, exactly what I wrote about this morning. Calle Klingberg set up as an extra forward, but Frölunda has given all forwards sensible ice time at the end.

## There isn’t much left to say that hasn’t already been said. Match 7 is a drama, mentally tough to handle such a task – it is necessary to dare even though the season may end, it is necessary to dare but in the right situations. For both teams, of course. I wrote about this, and much else, in this morning’s column. There is not much more to add, I feel.
Semi-final or holiday.
Joy or sadness.
Great success or great disappointment.
Everything is decided in a single match, luck and bad luck, bounce or counter bounce, that matters – just like good and less good performances.
The chronicle, for those who haven’t read it.

Semi-final or vacation, tonight the coldest skulls decide

► Match 7 thoughts. Read and load. ► What an evening we have ahead of us. Semi-final or holiday. No other options are available for Frölunda and Leksand this evening. A match 7 is the most dramatic we have, and I maintain: Mental strength trumps tactical ideas. LAST TUESDAY I spoke with Frölunda’s coach Roger Rönnberg. He, who for a long time felt there was more to pick out of Max Friberg & Co, has seen his team grow in this quarter-final series and said: – We know exactly what we need to do, we see exactly when Leksand gets into trouble. What they found simple in the beginning […]

## It’s going to be a standing ovation created by the atmosphere in Scandinavium just before drop. How long that lasts, the match picture will decide enough, I think.

## The winner of Frölunda and Leksand faces Skellefteå in the semi-finals. First matches Saturday/Monday in northern Västerbotten. Växjö–Rögle in Småland Friday/Sunday.

## 31 game 7 I got it, must have missed one, apparently 32, but the principle is the same – clear preponderance for the home team in number of victories.
Frölunda’s “seven” wonders Roger Rönnberg-era, for those who can’t bear to click on the text below:
2023
Quarter-final, Färjestad–Frölunda 1–3
2017
Semi-final, Frölunda–Brynäs 1–3
Quarter-final, Frölunda–Skellefteå 3–2 (extra time)
2015
Quarter-final, Frölunda–Luleå 4–2
2014
Quarter-final, Frölunda–Linköping 0–2

Frölunda is at home in match 7, but Leksand is not completely gone…

► Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Learn to sell out fast. ► But – is home advantage in a match 7? My feeling is that home/away plays very little role in a directly decisive game 7. Like when Frölunda knocked out Färjestad last year. The statistics don’t really tell me right. Although … maybe a little anyway? The trend? Uh, do what you will with the numbers. Soon it’s hockey party again. TONIGHT, TUESDAY the second of April, it’s a cheeky game 7 in the Finnish Liiga, Pelicans against HIFK, Lahti against Helsinki. Ryan Lasch and Patrik Carlsson’s Pelicans were 3–0, lost Game 4 in the sixth (!) […]
