Fröhnd will probably not do without credit – Fröhnd

City councils thank Mayor Tanja Steinebrunner for the good cooperation.

Mayor Tanja Steinebrunner chaired her last municipal council meeting on Monday evening. With applause and appreciation of her achievements, the round of municipal councils said goodbye to the mayor who had been voted out and thanked them for the good cooperation in recent years.

Many citizens had come to the community hall. Everyone present wore a mouth and nose cover – they were only removed for verbal contributions. Among the visitors was the future mayor Michael Engesser, whom the incumbent wished good luck and success for his upcoming term of office. It starts on January 1, 2021.

There were gloomy forecasts with a view to the budget for 2021. “The community is suffering from a greatly reduced inflow of funds and urgently needs consolidation measures,” stated Tanja Steinebrunner. “We have to face reality.” But she also emphasized: “We have not lived beyond our means, because the main culprit for the current financial situation of the municipality is the implementation of municipal budget law.” It is now necessary to apply a rigorous red pencil, “everything that is not urgently needed must be deleted.” Still it looks bad. “We will not get along without a cash loan,” said the mayor.

The municipal councils were similarly critical of this and subsequently rejected the 2021 budget submitted by the accounting office of the municipal administration association (GVV) and applied for an adjournment. The reasons for this postponement were given by the municipal councils to the increase in expenditure of around 20 percent in the last three years. One must also defend oneself against the resolutions of the district council regarding the district levy, which put a heavy burden on the community of Fröhnd, it said. The Fröhnder household expected additional expenses in the coming year due to the costs of the community administration association in Schönau, so the argument for the adjournment from the community of councilors. The issue is to be tackled again with the new mayor.

An increase in wastewater charges in 2021 is not planned. The wastewater fee thus remains at 6.40 euros per cubic meter of wastewater.
