New York, Aug 30 (EFE).- Argentine tennis player Francisco Comesaña said goodbye to the US Open on Friday after losing in the third round to American Taylor Fritz.
Number 12 in the ATP, Fritz defeated Comesaña, who is ranked 108, 6-3, 6-4 and 6-2 in two hours of play.
The American will face the winner of the match between Norwegian Casper Ruud (No. 8) and Chinese Juncheng Shang (No. 72) in the round of 16.
For his part, Comesaña had a very good performance in his first appearance at Flushing Meadows.
The 23-year-old from Mar del Plata has two victories under his belt, both of which came from behind: in the first round against the Swiss Dominic Stricker (n.169) and the even more notable one in the second round against the Frenchman Ugo Humbert (n.17).
The young Argentinian is particularly good at the ‘grand slams’, as he also made his debut at Wimbledon this year and also admirably reached the third round after beating none other than the Russian Andrey Rublev (n.6).
