Close friends and relatives last said goodbye to economist Vladimir Karolev, who died on the night of October 21 after nearly six months in a coma. The worship took place in the church “St. Sofia”.

The economist Vladimir Karolev was discovered in Pirin on May 9-10, 2021, during the night unconscious. He disappeared while snowboarding in the mountains.

The search in Pirin lasted 12 hours, and one of the participating groups found him at 00:40. He was unconscious, was taken away and at 4:30 am was handed over to the Emergency Room.

Karolev was injured after falling from about 400 meters on steep terrain when slipping. Rescuers explain that the economist was found lucky because the place where he was is without signal. Karolev was transported to Pirogov, where his treatment began immediately, and in September he was transferred to Tokuda Hospital, where doctors continued to fight for his life.
