Friendly with Russia and China, Pentagon Sends Reminder to Middle East

WASHINGTON – A senior official Pentagon warned that countries Middle East who carry out deeper security cooperation with China or Russia . Those countries seem to be testing the water by risking their partnership with United States of America (AS).

“It’s clear that certain countries and partners want to try to hedge value and test what else they might be able to get from the United States by testing the water on deeper cooperation with China and Russia, particularly in the security and military space,” said the Deputy Assistant US Secretary of Defense, Dana Stroul, during a webinar at the Middle East Institute.

“And I will just remind them again that there is a point that will lead to a strategy that will not only threaten your partnership with the United States but will actually threaten your national sovereignty in countries like Lebanon.” Sputnik, Wednesday (2/6/2021).

Stroul claims that the potential benefits of cooperating with Russia and China are nothing compared to what the United States can offer in terms of security cooperation.

“For me, the choice is clear between what you can get from China or Russia and what you can get from the United States,” he stressed.

Stroul accused Russia of fostering an intention to challenge the United States in the Middle East and stressed its regional strategic partnership.
