Repsol Honda Racers Pol Espargaro consider the cancellation of all activities MotoGP Argentina 2022 on Friday (31/3) is a disgrace for all parties in MotoGP.
The free practice of the first day of the Argentine MotoGP was canceled due to the problem of the team’s cargo not arriving in Argentina. Dorna then condensed the schedule for the second day of the Argentine MotoGP, Saturday (2/4), by holding FP1, FP2, FP3 and the qualifying round in one day.
Espargaro said the conditions for canceling the first day of the Argentine MotoGP were a disgrace to all parties involved in MotoGP.
“The cancellation is a disgrace for everyone, for the organizers [Dorna]for a team that doesn’t have a motorbike ready, and for a rider who has to have a marathon day, with all the free practice sessions and especially qualifying, which are the most stressful moments on the circuit,” said Espargaro. Espargaro then considered the second day of the Argentine MotoGP to be difficult for the MotoGP team riders and crew because of the busy schedule.
“Everything was done in just one day and on a circuit where we haven’t been here for more than two years. Saturday will be a very, very stressful day,” said the Spaniard.
Although Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta confirmed that the cargo plane carrying a number of MotoGP team motorbikes would arrive in Argentina on Friday night and the second day of the Argentine MotoGP would be held, there are still concerns that the second day will also be cancelled.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, I can’t answer it, I don’t know if [pesawat] it will come or not, although I hope so and I want to believe so,” said Espargaro.
“We have everything in our box so we can race, but I think for a team that doesn’t. These are extraordinary circumstances, no one is to blame, but the plane that arrived has broken down and had to be repaired. That is something that is beyond control,” Espargaro said.
