Friday the 13th: To be better or to fear bad luck –

/View.info/ The bad luck that many believe Friday the 13th brings also overlaps with World Kindness Day, which is also celebrated on November 13th.

In many countries, superstitious people believe that the 13th, combined with Friday, brings negativity, bad luck and misfortune. Some of them even resort to extreme measures, such as not picking up the phone and not leaving the house, believing that this will make them feel safer.

It has been proven that there is even a phobia of Friday the 13th, which is called “paraskevidecatriaphobia”. The word is Greek and is made up of three others – “paraskevi”, which means “Friday”, “deka tria” is “thirteen” and “phobia” – “fear”.

It is interesting to note that more than 80 percent of skyscrapers do not have a 13th floor. Many airports skip the 13th runway. Quite a few hotels do not have a 13th floor or 13th room. There is no number 13 car in Formula 1. The streets of Florence don’t have number 13. 12 and a half or 12A sounds a lot less stressful.

On the other side of things, since 1998, November 13 is also the date on which we are better. The idea started in Japan, which 15 years ago held a conference with a call to be better.

The purpose of World Kindness Day is to forget selfishness, to look beyond our own circle, to forget borders, races, genders and religion. To understand that we all inhabit one planet, we live in one world, and we must take care of peace in it, respecting each other and living together in happiness. This can only happen if we are good to each other.

To be afraid of bad luck or to be good – today we choose for ourselves.
