Friday Evening Rush Hour Starts Early with Traffic Jams on Dutch Highways

The Friday evening rush hour started early this July 14th. Especially on the highways A2, A16, A17 and A27 it was quickly busy this afternoon. Around five o’clock, however, the greatest delay in Brabant was recorded on the A67. There was a traffic jam of 10 kilometers between the Belgian border and Veldhoven-West, which meant a delay of almost 70 minutes. Cause: The right lane is closed due to a broken down truck.

Still, according to the ANWB, it was not too bad with the crowds. A spokeswoman for the ANWB: “At the moment there is less than four hundred kilometers of traffic jams on the roads. That is a lot less busy than we expected.” A week ago, when ‘Midden’ started the holiday, it was a lot busier around this time. Then there was about 700 kilometers of traffic jam. “People seem to have listened to us carefully,” said the ANWB, which warned earlier this week about traffic on the roads to holiday destinations.
