Frida Karlsson has continued the chance to challenge Jessie Diggins before the Tour de ski decider.

The Swedish riders once again nibbled a few seconds into the top of the overall on Saturday.

In Viaplay, however, there was some criticism that Karlsson did not get enough traction – which she herself agreed with.

Moa Ilar’s summary: “Tour de chaos”

The goal has been clear for the Swedish ladies and especially for Frida Karlsson: overtake Jessie Diggins in the Tour de ski total.

On Saturday, 15 kilometers in Val di Fiemme awaited the mass start and the Swedish ladies with Karlsson, Linn Svahn and Jonna Sundling were far ahead in the ranks.

The distance fluctuated around a couple of seconds between Karlsson and Diggins during the first half of the race. After that, Karlsson and her teammates looked to increase the distance to Diggins together with the German Victoria Carl before the last lap. But it was more about them trying, especially with Karlsson leading the rest of the field.

But in the finish, Frida Karlsson crossed the finish line as second, after Linn Svahn had overtaken in a sprint battle.

– Frida pulled all the way, but she should have a eulogy. She is pulling the whole pack forward today, said Linn Svahn after the race.

– The winner pays off, said Karlsson.

Frida Karlsson’s frustration

However, Viaplay expert Teodor Petersson was critical of the television broadcast.

– You get a little irritated. Why don’t the others help? Hennig, Carl and Niskanen could have helped. But it goes too fast. They didn’t have good enough material some of them. It’s not that they don’t want to, they can’t bear it, he says.

The other day there was irritation among riders because there were no riders when the weather was bad. It was instead Frida Karlsson, who took in a total of 14 seconds, who took that role according to herself.

– It was me, she says.

It was possible to sense a frustration.

– Yes, a little, but I just drive. If someone had changed a little more, it would have cracked. You drive well with what you have. I felt invigorated.

Tomorrow awaits the last stage of the Tour de Ski with the climb up Alpe Cermis.
