Frida Karlsson wins the World Cup – after a huge duel

Frida Karlsson took revenge after double eleventh places in the World Cup in Canmore, Canada.

In the ladies’ 20 kilometer mass start, Karlsson was the fastest of all.

– It felt good. It was high speed from the beginning – and very numb legs now at the end, says Karlsson to Viaplay.

The VC win is Karlsson’s second for the season.

– It worked out quite well. It’s fun to compete when your body feels good.

On the third lap, the field was stretched out and a top cluster was created, with many of the Swedes still in good positions.

In the end, it was only Karlsson against Finnish Kerttu Niskanen left in the fight for the win.

After a long and tough duel Karlsson was strongest at the end and sprinted to a victory.

– I felt quite strong in the strike. So it was good, she says.

Behind her, Ebba Andersson finished in fifth, Jonna Sundling in eighth, Linn Svahn in ninth and Moa Ilar in 23rd.

Overall World Cup leader Jessie Diggins had a tough time, finishing in tenth place.

When it was time for the gentlemen to set out over the same distance, the top cluster was heavily colored red.

However, the Swedes placed well, not least William Poromaa who was third in the race.

Then the forces were not enough.

Poromaa was run down by double Norwegians and ended up in fifth place.

The podium was completely Norwegian. Pål Golberg won, before Johannes Høsflot Klæbo and Mattis Stenshagen.

Calle Halfvarsson had a tough Sunday when he was forced to stop the race.

– Unfortunately that’s not possible. I have too bad stuff. It’s too much attachment or something. It is absolutely incredible, he says in Viaplay.
