The 110 Friborg deputies had sat at Forum Friborg in May and June, a coronavirus crisis obliges.
Keystone
The Grand Council of Friborg knows for its extraordinary session in August, open Tuesday, its third move of the year. Due to the renovation of the Cantonal Hotel and the Covid-19 crisis, he sits at the St-Léonard village hall in Friborg.
Almost every session, MEPs discover a new location. They should normally sit for two years, until the end of 2021, in the premises of the Cantonal Police in Granges-Paccot, near Friborg. They took up residence there in February, before the pandemic disturbed the organization, with first the cancellation of the March session.
Then, we had to find a larger room in connection with the barrier measures imposed by the health crisis. The 110 elected officials then settled in Forum Friborg, still in Granges-Paccot, for the May and June sessions in a room of 2000 square meters, very bulky, a few hundred meters from the headquarters of the Cantonal Police.
Unavailability
For a question of availability in August, the secretariat of the Grand Council had, however, to find a new room still allowing to avoid too close physical contact. The choice fell on the St-Léonard village hall, next to the eponymous ice rink where Friborg-Gottéron plays, located on the municipal territory of the cantonal capital.
The multiple migrations do not, however, prevent the use of the same sound system and electronic voting as in the premises of the Cantonal Police, only the cables will be longer. The location of the September session has not yet been determined, with a possible return to the venue of the Forum Friborg exhibition site, which gave full satisfaction in May and June.
Moving the debates to Forum Friborg had cost 17,000 francs per session, mainly for the rental and cleaning of the premises. The rest of the costs, in particular for the sound system, are included in the credit granted for the renovation of the Hôtel cantonal, in Friborg (envelope of more than 20 million francs).
