Freyming-Merlebach. La Marche en Or returns to the Barrois quarry

It’s off again for the Marche en Or, organized for the fourth consecutive year by the Enza association, around the Barrois quarry, in Freyming-Merlebach. It will take place on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 September. The first edition brought together nearly 150 walkers and since then it has continued to attract solidarity walkers. From the second edition, the association, created in 2017 by Audrey and Arnaud Balducci, set itself the objective of passing the bar of 200 participants. Once the bet has been settled, the number increases from year to year. Last year, despite more than unfavorable weather, more than 250 people attended.

This action, and others carried out by the Enza association, made it possible to financially support the pediatric oncology department at the children’s hospital of the Nancy-Brabois CHU. Last year, in addition to a check for € 4,000, they brought gifts to hospitalized children.

Two routes and a country party

The start of the walk is always at the Espace Wiselstein, in Freyming-Merlebach. No change in the routes, with two proposed distances of 6.5 and 10 km, towards the Barrois quarry, to reach the belvedere, at the edge of the Warndt forest, and enjoy the enchanting landscapes and its canyon.

This year, Sunday, in addition to the march, is the return of the country festival, organized by the CIA Hochwald. And the tradition will be maintained, with a pig on the spit, only by reservation, at 06 88 13 22 96.

Registrations (€ 2) are taken on site from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., the last deadline for departures. The health pass will be mandatory: proof of complete vaccination, RT-PCR or negative antigen test less than 72 hours, proof of recovery (RT-PCR or positive antigen test more than eleven days and less than six months).

Information on the association’s Facebook page, or from the president, on 06 88 13 22 96.
