Fresnes / Onnaing: With the “Z’elles”, it’s a meeting place for unknown jobs

The participants try their hand at so-called “male” trades, such as repairing a washing machine here. Not to work at it, but to prove to themselves that they are capable of it.

The “Z’elles” is an idea that arises from a diagnosis. That of the ignorance of women for the extent of the jobs open to them, in particular when it comes to finding the path to employment.

“When women start looking for work out of desire or obligation after a long period of absence, they often turn to a cleaning agent or to early childhood., explains Juliette Fleury, who coordinates the project. They do not realize that it is necessary to train all the same to be a cleaning agent and that in the early childhood sector, there are no jobs. ”

For lack of time, desire or knowledge, they do not take the time to think about their professional project and to refocus on themselves.

Regain self-confidence

This is where the Z’elles team comes in. “We want above all to be there to regain self-confidence, adds Juliette Fleury. Why would we women not be able?

Two days a week, the group of women who responded to the association’s proposal goes to meet companies in the field. “They don’t know what to expect in the morning.” Some of these companies have jobs that could be considered male.

The afternoon is devoted to discussion on topics such as stereotypes or self-image. “The goal of the experience is also to learn to speak positively about oneself.” With the CV in N ”or” d, they learn to value their life course.

Rework your professional project

In the morning, it is Juliette herself who comes “kidnapper” at the wheel of his vehicle. No program known in advance for “These beautiful ladies”. The group discovers the trades they would not even have thought of and get their hands dirty.

Meetings are increasing, with other women who have atypical jobs as well as with business leaders, who come to talk about their experience. One of them, for example, went to train in Normandy to become a boatwoman.

The goal is to realize that anything is possible, that they are not just mothers. Periods of immersion that can lead to reworking your professional project or telling yourself that the job, why not but not immediately, you are not ready but be able to verbalize it. The second session is in progress.

Today, there are 9 women from Fresnes-sur-Escaut and Onnaing to engage in the experience. During the first session, all the participants decided to rework their professional project.

A project initiated by the ACSRV (Social Centers of Valenciennois) and funded by Valenciennes Métropole and the FSE.
