Freshmen and sophomores will return to school in a week. Blinds compulsory, limited meetings

Plaga spoke at a press conference on Wednesday with Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES).

“We want to announce the good news, on November 18th, 1st and 2nd year pupils and pupils of preparatory schools and pupils of special schools are returning to our schools,” said the Minister of Education.

“The costs of slowing down the epidemic were borne by the Czech education system, so I am glad that with this step we can return to the full-time form,” he added.

However, teaching will take place under strict epidemiological measures. “Regime measures will be needed. The return will not take place in groups of fifteen as in the spring, the whole class will return. However, children from different classes should not meet, “he said.

More ventilation

Veils will then be mandatory – with the exception of special and kindergartens – throughout the teaching period, but also in common areas. “Ventilation is also important to eliminate the risk. Therefore, there will be even more pressure on ventilation, even during classes, or in the middle of classes, “said Plaga.

For the 1st and 2nd classes, the groups will also be renewed. School canteens will also be in operation. There will be no music or physical education.

From 18 November, full-time individual consultations will be possible for other primary and secondary school pupils. “Further school opening will depend on epidemic developments,” Plaga said.

“We are well on our way, even if we have not won. I am glad that this step took place, “said Minister Blatný about the opening of part of the schools.

Almost all schools are closed from 14 October, and from 2 November the closure also applies to special schools. Kindergartens and schools set aside for the care of children of health professionals, social workers, police officers, firefighters or labor office employees remained in operation.

However, according to Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) and former Minister of Health Roman Prymula (for YES), some children were to return to school on 2 November. Prymula said with exaggeration that perhaps the nuclear power plant would have to “explode” so that the students would not return to school.
