“Fresh Snowfall Expected in Switzerland Tonight: Get Ready!”

In the night to Monday, winter is making an impressive comeback. Already on Sunday there will be widespread precipitation in Switzerland. Because the temperatures are still widely over ten degrees, it will probably rain. Lightning, thunder and hail are also possible on Sunday. The snow line is around 1200 meters. Longer periods of dry weather are also possible in the afternoon. There is a strong southwest wind.

Temperatures drop significantly in the evening and at night. Even during the day, they no longer increase significantly. The snow line drops to 800 meters. The federal government has declared danger level 3 for the period between Sunday midnight and Tuesday morning for various regions in Switzerland. In the affected regions there is “considerable danger”.

The warning applies to regions above 700 meters above sea level. The federal government expects ten to 30 centimeters of fresh snow in these regions. Above 1200 meters, 30 to 60 centimeters of fresh snow are possible. There is also a snow warning in parts of the canton of Valais – but only level 2 there. The avalanche danger remains high in most parts of the Swiss Alps.

Precipitation will decrease on Monday afternoon and sunny sections are still possible in some areas. The temperatures range between three and seven degrees. In the night on Tuesday it will be significantly cooler again and there will also be temperatures below freezing in the lowlands. So be careful on the streets on Tuesday morning. Anyone who has already fitted summer tires should be particularly careful.

On Tuesday there will be a lot of sunshine and the temperatures will climb above ten degrees again. Also on Wednesday it remains friendly with temperatures up to 15 degrees. At the end of the week, a new disruption is announced. So it could be another rainy weekend.
