(NOTICIAS YA) .- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on its official website that the El Abuelito cheese brand, from Paterson with headquarters in New Jersey, is recalling all Cheese products Fresh because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes.
According to the official FDA website, Queso Fresco products with expiration dates of 03-28-2021 have been withdrawn from the market.

The products are marketed under the El Abuelito Cheese brand, distributed in CT, NJ, PA, NY; The Rio Grande Food Products brand, distributed in Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland and Rio Lindo distributed in North Carolina and Maryland.
The products were distributed until February 16, 2021 and were available in supermarkets, wholesale and retail stores, here a list of the cheeses and the distribution lot.
The FDA stated in this possible outbreak investigation that the Connecticut Department of Public Health collected samples of fresh and soft Hispanic-style cheese products from the El Abuelito brand from a store where a sick person purchased cheese.
What is Listeria?
Listeria is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail people or the elderly, according to the FDA it could also affect other weakened immune systems.

The FDA states that although healthy people may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria monocytogenes infection can lead to miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
