Frenchman Mathieu Herbaut, alias “Zywoo”, was voted best player in the world on Counter Strike: Global Offensive, according to the classification published Monday by the specialized site HLTV. He won this title in front of the Dane Nicolai “device” (3rd) Reedtz and the Ukrainian Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev (2nd).
Zywoo is the first French to be awarded this award, video game equivalent of the Ballon d’Or by France Football. At 19, he also became the youngest player in the world to win this esports title, and the first to be crowned after his first year at the professional level.
“A real hero on and off the battlefield”
Gifted with the keyboard, Zywoo has become, in record time, the ambassador of the new generation of gamers. For a little over a year, he has represented the Vitality team on Counter-Strike, one of the most popular PC first-person shooter games. It is thanks to his talent which seems intuitive and his sense of play, that Vitality has reached the rank of world N.2 in the game.
