French Youth Championships: a golden conclusion for Élise Labeille (Clermont Athletics Auvergne)

This final day of debates had in fact opened under the sun with a bronze medal at length for the youngest Oriane Cornet. A charm not really expected from reading the results of the season but the heptathlete from Clermont is obviously capable of shining in multiple disciplines.

She thus broke her personal best (5.66m instead of 5.59m) on her initial attempt. Cornet’s series was very dense with 5.56m (4th attempt) then 5.48m at the end. Not enough to come back to the leading duo measured beyond 5.80 m while preserving its place on the podium for three small centimeters.

The best was yet to come with Élise Labeille’s 800m title. The victories in Clermont in general and in the women’s middle distance in particular therefore continued with the cadet of the CAA.

I am 4 seconds from my record but the main thing was of course the victory.

As is often the case, the final turned out to be tactical with a sort of observation round which lasted for 700 m… In the final packaging, Louisa Esmouni (Montpellier) first took the advantage but she had the mistake of stepping aside and leaving the rope free.

“I let myself be locked in the turn a bit,” she admitted. “However, I felt that there was a small room to pass because the girls had shifted in the straight line. I am 4 seconds from my record but the main thing was of course the victory. I am also fortunate to be part of a club that works well with competition and interesting training. “

In the end, athletics is simple!
