Last red card for Corinne Deacon. Finally a priori. The coach of the Blue should resign, Tuesday, February 28, at the same time as Noël Le Graët. They both supported each other. Nothing has been officially said yet, but this thorny question must be answeredthis Tuesday, by the Executive Committee of the French Football Federation (“Comex”).
Corinne Deacon, it’s strange, I’ve never seen her smile. In almost all the photos, she sulks, she is austere. It still describes this authoritarianism that the players talk about. Some have even mentioned the terror it reigns… and for quite a while.
It was not just Wendie Renard, Marie-Antoinette Katoto or Kadidiatou Diani who slammed the door momentarily. No, there was also Sarah Bouhaddi, Amandine Henry, Eugénie Le Sommer… It’s been six years since there has been war between Corinne Deacon and her players. It’s weird, she didn’t put her Clermont-Ferrand male players through hell when she was their coach.
She had become the first woman to coach men, maybe she should have continued. Sorry, but when you arrive in the selection, it should be a great joy, an immense pleasure. Being part of the France team is both demanding and rewarding. There, there was – according to the players – neither high-level work required, nor the gratitude that can exist within a team between a coach and her players.
Frankly, such a waste ! Women’s football was starting to catch on, after years in the shadow of men’s football. No, there is an urgent need to find a coach worthy of the name.
