On a circuit laid out in the heart of the city, on the banks of the Meuse and next to the Erasmus bridge, the Schweighousien Joseph Fritsch and the Franc-Comtois Johan Quaile took an important part in the French victory against the Italians, who played the win almost to the end.
The French team immediately took control of the race, but was overtaken during the second stint by the Italian team and the Swiss team. The Helvetians quickly let go and the French and Italians threw themselves into a beautiful mano a mano.
The Blues first took off, during the fourth stint, before seeing their rivals pick up. And finally, they made the difference in the eighth stint. The last lap (the ninth) was quietly managed by Joseph Fritsch, which allowed the Tricolores to arrive well ahead with six seconds ahead of the Italian torchbearers.
Joseph Fritsch will take part in the time trial this Friday, but he will mainly focus on the road race on Sunday, where his objective can be summed up in one word: “Win!” »
