It’s time to celebrate. While the Digital Markets Act (DMA) has just been finalized by Brussels, the tricolor tech is pleased. The text, which will regulate much more strictly the activity of the digital giants in Europe, was eagerly awaited by companies which are often the first victims of the anticompetitive excesses of Gafam.
“The initial ambition was respected and the text negotiated in a very short time. We are very pleasantly surprised”, rejoices Maya Noël, the general manager of France Digitale. The association of start-ups welcomes the new protections provided against delisting by search engines or application stores, the obligation to use the Gafam payment or identification system, or even “sherlocking”. (the practice of the giants copying certain features of the apps present on their store to integrate them into their own products).
