A dedicated team for the environment. On the occasion of the French Swimming Championships, in Rennes, from June 11 to 16, Maif launched the “Each medal counts” movement.
Throughout the competition, the medals won by swimmers trained by Philippe Lucas, in Martigues, will be converted into hours of waste collection whose national titles will double the bet.
Young people at the head of the movement
This is a new initiative for these young champions who wanted to commit to a practice of swimming more environmentally friendly. They decided to join Maif’s Sport Planète movement last March.
For me, it is very important to make athletes aware of the actions implemented for the environment. This competition is a great opportunity to open up our sport towards this commitment so that future initiatives can be set up.

At 20, this young champion remains very attached to the cause. For health reasons, Madelon Catteau cannot take part in the French Championshipsbut it will be present during the World Cleanup Day (World Cleanup Day), September 16 on the beaches of Corbière in Marseille.
In collaboration with the association 1 waste per day, all Team Lucas swimmers will come to the beach, with their won medals, pick up waste.
Awareness action
After a first eco-responsible action last March, during the awareness day with Maif on the challenges environmentalan awareness has therefore been raised within Team Lucas.
A revealing day for these young people sporty which led to the creation of a giant fresco on these issues as well as waste collection around the Martigues swimming pool.

Driven by the European Champion Charlotte Bonnet, the movement aims to be consistent and motivates swimmers of Team Lucas to win a medal.
The gold medal represents two hours of waste collection, while the silver and bronze medal will be converted to one hour of waste collection.
The fact that we are a large group with a better chance of winning medals, it is during these French championships that we have to go get as many hours as possible for waste collection.

To encourage the use of the practice of sport in competition in order to render a service to the environment is therefore the objective of Philippe Lucas and his swimmers, who wish continue their actions throughout the year.
