Mestdagh operates 87 Carrefour stores in our country, mainly in Brussels and Wallonia. At the end of last year, Mestdagh canceled the franchise agreement with Carrefour.
Intermarché has 78 stores in our country. They achieved a turnover of 780 million euros last year. The 87 Mestdagh stores achieved a turnover of 694 million euros.
“Thanks to the rapprochement with the Mestdagh group, we can continue our growth in the already very concentrated market of the Belgian wholesale distribution, where opportunities of this kind rarely arise,” says Alain Boulle, director of Intermarché in Belgium.
Intermarché is part of the French retail group Groupement Les Mousquetaires.
