Residents of medico-social establishments (EMS) in French-speaking Switzerland were hit hard by the coronavirus. On average, a third of the Covid-19 deaths in French-speaking Switzerland are residents of the EMS, reports Le Matin Dimanche.
However, not all cantons are affected in the same way. EMS residents make up almost half of the victims in the cantons of Vaud (60 out of 123 deaths) and Neuchâtel (11 out of 23 deaths) while in Geneva they represent around a fifth of deaths (19 out of 45). About a quarter of Friborg deaths (9 out of 35) and two fifths of Valais deaths (19 out of 45) occurred in EMS.
In the canton of Bern, this rate is around 10% (3 deaths out of 28). Only the Jura did not deplore any death in EMS Saturday at the end of the day, the newspaper said. The trend is similar Overseas.
