French-speaking songs in the spotlight this winter in Millau with “Les Givrées”

The collective behind L’éco’fest’hivernal Les Givrées brought together its little world at the Millau media library for the presentation of the 2025 edition. After three editions, the concept has already taken root in the heart of the Millau winter and found its audience. This year again, it offers a great program enriched with unusual and musical events.

Throughout the year, 18 active members of the collective, and around thirty volunteers during the highlights, all generations combined, work together to produce the festival. Together, they develop the program, united by the same desires and driven by the same values.

Last Tuesday, November 12, they took over the MéSA at the end of the afternoon to present the next edition which will take place from January 17 to 25. With “ the desire to go further on artistic presentation », several members of the collective took turns revealing the seven artists of the paid concerts.

A varied French-speaking program deployed across the territory

The 2024 edition promises an eclectic program with 12 concerts and 15 additional activities (exhibitions, vocal naps, event train, film screenings, escape game, etc.). In three towns and twenty venues, the festival will welcome French-speaking artists with varied tones: children’s songs, slam, rap, jazz, pop songs and much more.

In a sought-after balance between established artists and new talents, the event explores genres with dark, joyful, colorful, intimate or melancholic tones, but always in French. The festival associates the Théâtre de la Maison du Peuple with various local associations and establishments, to highlight French-speaking artists from diverse backgrounds to a wide audience.

Nicolas Jules “Wild Carnival”

A breath of fresh air on the Givrées with Nicolas Jules, independent artist and essential of the French scene! With messy hair and a timeless look, it is expected, or rather unexpected, in solo mode and in trio mode. www.nicolasjules.com

A word from the collective: “ The common thread of the festival, the singer with 14 albums is made for the stage, it’s what he loves. With more than 100 concerts per year, he is a multifaceted artist who evolves in a surreal universe with a lot of poetry and word work. ».

No Mad “Birds at Night”

Birds at Night is an acoustic concert by candlelight, in a gentle complicity with the audience, an intimate atmosphere where a thrill can run through the space. Straightforward, between caressing melodies and crafted orchestrations, the five musicians of No Mad invent an incandescent and timeless folk poetry. www.la-curieuse.com/artiste/no-mad/

Little Mouth

A revered child of confinement, Manon Gilbert, actress and pianist, decides to open it up and becomes Petite Gueule, a cheeky rapper full of energy. Then everything accelerates: normal for an artist who has rhythm as her heartbeat. In September 2023, his first album, Petite Gueule Gronde, was released, where his virtuosity as an instrumentalist, his love of the text and his quest for authenticity, his inventiveness and the range of his talent are revealed more than ever. Small mouth but still a big one!

A word from the collective: “ Small mouth, she’s a sure hit, professional actress, she decides to rap in alexandrines during confinement, then puts in place very precise work until the last note of her concert, she is to be experienced and seen , even and especially for those who don’t like rap ». www.facebook.com/PetiteGueuleGronde/

Tom Poisson « Jean-Michel »

Album after album, he spreads his flying fish wings, offering a theater in relief imbued with humanity and thus irrigating his excessive imagination! With his seventh solo opus, Jean-Michel, Tom Poisson moves calmly in a world that must move quickly, with intuition on his shoulder and sincerity as his compass. On stage, Tom Poisson is accompanied by Alice Chiaverini, pianist and percussionist, and by Denis Piednoir, multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger, who opens up new sonic horizons for him.

A word from the collective: “ A regular at the festival, the artist is accessible and offers a lovely poetic, committed variety served by a generous character ».

  • Friday January 24 at 6:15 p.m. – René Rieux Hall in Millau

Emily Loizeau

Following on from her album Icare, Emily Loizeau gives free rein to her boundless creativity in her new album La Souterraine. If Icarus is this character with Loizeau’s wings who wanted to approach the sun, Emily, in La Souterraine, intends to overcome the darkness and look it in the eyes. This album, confides the author and composer, “attempts to trace the path of a long quest for love in the middle of a world in disarray”, it is “a dance between reality and fiction which does everything not to give up light”.

A word from the collective: “ She is a brilliant artist, in these songs with their particular timbre, she gives of herself, of her emotions, and offers us like a diary of the world. ».

Etienne Fletcher

He comes from the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, with very cold winters, and the West Coast Music Awards crowned him best French-speaking artist of the year 2022. This shows that Étienne Fletcher is doubly welcome at Les Givrées! From his world, something decidedly touching emerges. With gentle scratches in his voice, the singer-songwriter finds the right words to translate life, death and what breathes in between into songs.

A word from the collective: “ It’s a trio of guitar, drums and keyboard that the public will discover, a great discovery with an artist that the stage reveals »

  • Saturday January 25 at 6 p.m. – Theater of the Maison du Peuple – Millau

Wise as Savages “Wise as Savages”

Will they calm down or savage the Frostworts? Maison Maquis, the group’s third album after Largue la Peau and Luxe Misère, already sets the tone! More precisely: the colors, as the latest creation of the Franco-American-Greek-Corso-Brussels duo mixes French song and world music, combining a wide sound palette with sublime vocal harmonies. Real beasts of the stage, Ava Carrère and Ismaël Colombani reserve for Les Givrées a (completely) beautiful finale, full of humor, emotions and infectious energy!

A word from the collective “ A mix of cultures, she self-taught, he a trained musician, together they experiment and form a “grouple”, group/couple, inspired by their origins and their multiple collaborations with sounds that oscillate between tradition and modernity »
