French singer and actress Jane Birkin (76) has died in Paris. According to French media, she was found dead this morning in her home in Paris. She recently canceled a number of concerts for health reasons.
In May she said: “I’ve always been a great optimist and I realize I still need some time to get back on stage and be with you.”
Born in London in 1946, Birkin settled in France in the late 1960s. She also took French nationality. She became known to the general public with the song I love you…me neither from 1969 that she sang with her then husband Serge Gainsbourg. It was in the Top 2000 until 2013.
The song symbolizes the sexual revolution of the 1960s. It was banned in several countries.
