The French Olympic Week of Hyères – Toulon Provence Méditerranée is back from April 23 to 30, 2022. Once again, the Olympic sailing elite will be in Hyères for one of the most anticipated moments of the season. For the first in France, the SOF will bring together on the Hyères lake the 10 series that will be present in Marseille for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

A historic and unmissable competition on the Olympic circuit, the French Olympic Week is today the best event for preparing for the next Olympic Games. The race program and the restricted quotas allow the best runners to find themselves in a final group with a limited number of participants. An organization very close to the format used for the Olympic Games.

Coming from more than 50 countries, the 650 registered riders, including the world’s best Olympic sailors, will make the Hyères event an exceptional edition. After the Trofeo Princess Sofia, at the beginning of April, Hyères will be the 2th
major event on the Olympic calendar.

The 10 Olympic series: iQFOiL (foil windsurfing men and women), Kitefoil (foil kiteboarding men and women) ILCA (solo dinghy women and men), 49er (double dinghy men and women), Nacra 17 (double foil catamaran mixed ), 470 (mixed double dinghy) will therefore compete on the Hyérois waters, which is as technical as it is tactical and renowned for its often strong easterly winds.

They climbed to the top step of the podium this summer at the Tokyo Olympic Games, and they will be present in Hyères: the Australian Matt Wearn (Ilca masculine), the Italians Ruggero Tita & Caterina Banti (Nacra 17 mixed ), the Brazilians Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze (women’s 49er), the English Eilidh McIntyre who will be associated with Martin Wringley (470 mixed doubles dinghy).

On the French side, the world champions of iQFOiL Hélène Noesmoen and Nicolas Goyard will be present in Hyères, to note in iQFOiL the presence of Thomas Goyard (silver medalist in RS:X in Tokyo) and Pierre Le Coq (medal of bronze in RS: X in Rio). In KiteFoil we find the world champion Théo de Ramecourt, the European champion Axel Mazella, the European champion Poema Newland and Lauriane Nolot (3th at the world championship). Gold medalist in Rio and silver in Tokyo, Charline Picon returns and for the first time in competition in France in 49er associated with Sarah Steyaert. In bronze in Tokyo in 470 Aloise Retornaz will be in duet with Kevin Peponnet.

French Elite Championships in Hyères

Some series will take advantage of the Hyères Olympic week to award the titles of French Elite champion: Kite woman and man, Nacra 17, 470, 49er woman and man. The titles will be awarded to French athletes according to their ranking at the SOF.
The award ceremony will take place after the SOF award ceremony.

A gesture for Ukrainian athletes

The organizers of Hyères Olympic Week have decided to invite and provide accommodation for the entire Ukrainian delegation that will be present for the event.

Sunday April 24: welcome and registration
Monday 25 April: opening ceremony
Monday 25 to Friday 29 April: qualifying phase
Saturday April 30: Medal Races
Saturday April 30: Award ceremony and closing ceremony.
