Dozens of Dutch motorists stopped in France with an empty fuel tank, as petrol stations in the country ran out of fuel due to the strikes. The ANWB reports that dozens of Dutch requests for help have arrived since Friday, mainly from northern France and along the Route du Soleil.
According to the ANWB, due to strikes at oil refineries, fewer and fewer service stations have sufficient fuel stocks. There are long lines at gas stations that still have enough fuel.
The ANWB advises motorists traveling to France to cross the border with a full tank. It is recommended to fill the fuel tank in Luxembourg or Belgium.
Not everyone can be helped
The ANWB also warns that people with breakdowns cannot always be helped due to fuel shortages. “Depanneurs they are currently only used in dangerous situations along motorways “.
To cushion the impact of the strikes, Paris released fuel from its strategic fuel reserves. In this way, the French government hopes to keep as many gas stations stocked as possible.
It is not known how long the shortages will last.
