The Ministry of Internal Affairs estimated the number of protesters throughout the country at 75 thousand, of which 16,000 are in Paris, while co-organizers estimate 150 thousand.

The protests come as the date approaches for the Constitutional Council to announce its decision on the constitutionality of the immigration law, with a decision expected on January 25.
Critics of the law believe that it makes excessive concessions to right-wing forces and that some provisions contradict fundamental values and principles; these problems was also recognized by the government.
The negativity surrounding the adoption of the project became one of the reasons for the resignation of the previous government Premiere by Elizabeth Bourne.
