French President Emmanuel Macron said he has not changed his phone number and that if Russian President Vladimir Putin has serious proposals for achieving peace in Ukraine, he can still find them on it, France Press reported, citing BTA.
“If President Putin is willing to conduct a dialogue, if he wants to make serious proposals, if he wants to get out of the conflict and build a sustainable peace, that is, a peace that respects international law and therefore respects Ukrainian interests and sovereignty, I will accept his phone call,” Macron said at a press conference after the end of the EU summit in Brussels.
France will always be in this case a power that will help and that will not spare its efforts to achieve a result, he added and recalled the efforts that he personally made to prevent the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and then and to stop her in her first months.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday that he is always ready to hold a dialogue with his French counterpart, but that it is Macron who sees no interest in it and has ceased all communication with him.
“We are ready to continue cooperating with France. But at some point the French president ended his relations with us. If he is interested in dialogue, we are ready,” Putin said yesterday at his big annual press conference in Moscow. “If the French president does not want to communicate with us, we will not condemn that,” he added.
