The Foreign Ministries of both countries welcomed, in separate messages, the French president’s invitation, after Israeli actions over the last year in Palestine and Lebanon have caused “the death of tens of thousands of civilian victims, “most of them women and children, in a clear challenge to the international community.”

According to Egypt, the French president’s proposal is “fully in line with respect for the principles and rules of international humanitarian law,” and reflects the overwhelming and growing discontent at the international level “of the brutal Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon.” Macron assured, in an interview with French radio, that his country does not export weapons to Israel.
