French Police Crush Two BMWs After Illegal Drifting Incident

French police showed they are not afraid to use their full force when enforcing the rules of the road and literally crushed two BMWs after they were filmed drifting on public streets in Tourville-la-Riviere, in the north of the country.

Police shared video and photos of a multicolored E46 and a yellow E36 crushed in a huge press. Along with the footage, authorities wrote that “justice demands the destruction of the cars” after they were allegedly involved in illegal activities in May. In his defense, the owner of the 36 said that he was not given the opportunity to seek a lawyer before his car was crushed.

On Instagram, user @alann_abt claimed the yellow E36 was impounded because of a photo of what he admitted was drifting in an empty industrial estate. A few days after the post appeared on the Internet, the car was confiscated from his home.

The driver claims that he had no opportunity to organize a legal defense before his car was destroyed. Although he wrote that he would have accepted a fine, he says the oiling of his car was too severe and is now organizing a fundraiser to raise money for a lawyer.

According to the campaign page, the vehicle was impounded while the owner was at work and was not given the opportunity to retrieve his belongings from the interior. The court session is scheduled for January 15 next year.

According to French law, a driver of a car who drives recklessly can be fined up to 75 thousand euros and also up to three years in prison.
