With great enthusiasm and standing ovations the audience celebrated the pairing’s second place Kaylia NEMOUR (ALG) with the Swiss Christian BAUMANNwho more than deservedly contested the last competition of his remarkable international career.
Third place went to the winners of the so-called “small final” to the mixed team Karina Schönmaier (GER) and the Italian Mario Macchiati (ITA). A nice story, as this constellation only came into being on Thursday morning after Macchiati’s team partner was injured at the ArthurGander Memorial in Chiasso last Wednesday.
Germany’s parallel bars world champion and Olympic silver medalist in Tokyo (2021) also completed Luke DAUSER. However, he missed out together with the woman from Chemnitz Lea Quaas the semifinals, and the two ended up in seventh place. Nevertheless, the 31-year-old said his extremely successful international career ended on a positive note: “I had two things in mind: I wanted to enjoy wearing the Germany jersey again, and I managed that. I also wanted it to go boom again, and that worked on the parallel bars too.”
With 14,950 points (D-Rating: 6.0) The silver medalist from the Tokyo Olympics achieved the best result in the preliminary round. Things didn’t go well on the high bar with 11.20 points (4.2), but Dauser didn’t want to make the success of his project dependent on the overall result. “I was in poor health, but I didn’t want to give up under any circumstances,” he said.
