French Military Violates Niger’s Airspace and Attacks Presidential Guard: Crisis Unfolds

The French military violated the airspace of Niger and attacked the fighters of the presidential guard of the country. This was stated on the air of a local TV channel by the representative of the “National Council for the Defense of the Fatherland” Amadou Abdraman.

“Indeed, today, August 9, at 6.30 am, squadrons of the French Air Force attacked the National Guard. The situation has not yet stabilized. However, let me remind you that after direct communication with Western partners, we condemn the behavior of the French forces for the fact that they unilaterally released the leaders of terrorist groups. The French forces, as they did in Mali and Burkina Faso, seek to discredit the CNSP and create a gap between the people who support the CNSP,” Abdraman said.

Data on the injured and dead are being clarified, the level of alarm has been raised throughout the country. Volunteers in Niger’s capital, Niamey, form street patrol squads and work closely with the local military.

As reported EADaily, the French military carried out a covert operation that resulted in the release of 16 leaders of terrorist organizations arrested in June by the Niger army. This was announced today by representatives of the new authorities of the country, reports AFP.
