One year from the Paris Olympics, French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin has a fear: that the event will be targeted by terrorists. From Washington to New York, the “first cop in France” was on the move to UNITED STATES Thursday and Friday. The objective is to boost police and judicial cooperation, provided for in a 2016 bilateral agreement, against terrorism and serious crime.
“At a time when Americans may have a more national vision of the protests – white supremacism, repeated shootings, conspiracy – they must not forget what appears to us in Europe as the first threat: Sunni terrorism”explained the Minister of the Interior in an interview with Agence France Presse (AFP). “Anti-terrorism collaboration between intelligence services is absolutely essential”he added.
