Four Ile-de-France in silver
After a semi-final during which the French recovered from a delay of 12 touches against Italy, the French fencers therefore won a new medal for French fencing. The four shooters have in common that they each evolve in a club in the Ile-de-France region. Ysaora Thibus trains at BLR 92 in Bourg-la-Reine. Anita Blaze trains her in Aubervilliers En Seine-Saint-Denis.
Pauline Ranvier is a resident of the INSEP and originally from Melun while Astrid Guyard, the sister of the Olympic foil champion in Athens, Brice, is from Boulogne-Billancourt. It is therefore a new medal for fencing in Ile-de-France after Olympic gold won by the VGA swordsman Saint-Maur Romain Cannone.
