Nine women say they were raped or sexually abused by French film producer Alain Sarde (72). It is about facts that happened mostly in the 1980s and 1990s. Some of the victims were still minors at the time. The French women’s magazine reports this Helen Monday.
The women, mostly anonymously, reported in the magazine. For example, one of the actresses confirms how she was raped by Sarde in 1985 when she was 15 years old. The producer had invited her to his apartment in Paris, apparently for a professional discussion about the role she had been offered. Other women also report rape, attempted rape and other forms of sexual violence to the magazine. None of the victims had filed a complaint.
Jacqueline Laffont, the film producer’s lawyer, says in response Helen that these are “false” allegations. Alain Sarde “strongly denies the accusations and says that he has never used violence or coercion in his relationships with women, and his consent has always been extremely important to him. “
Cannes Film Festival
Alain Sarde has been involved in the production of over 150 films worldwide since the mid-1970s. For example, he collaborated on ‘Mulholland Drive’ by David Lynch and ‘The Pianist’ by Roman Polanski. About ten years ago he retired from the world of films.
In 1997, Sarde was already named in a rape case. His name appeared in a large file on a prostitution network that included several famous people from France and other countries. Two years later he was dismissed.
