On September 6 this year, at the age of 88, the French film actor, Jean Paul Belmondo (1933-2021), one of the greatest European film stars of the 20th century, passed away, an actor’s lawyer told AFP.

The actor went to his home in Paris.
“He had been feeling very tired for some time. His departure was peaceful,” his lawyer Michel Godest told the media.
The actor with a charming smile – Jean Paul Belmondo – gained fame with the flourishing of the French new wave of cinema (La Nouvelle Vague), for example in Jean-Luc Godard’s “Until the Last Breath” (60 bout de souffle, 1960) and others. The actor has also starred in French film classics such as Claude Lello, Marcel Carnel, Jean-Pierre Melville, François Trypho, Louis Mals, Jacques Dere, Claude Chabrol, Vitorio de Sika and others.
In total, Belmondo has played roles on more than 80 films on the big screen during his career.
Belmondo was born on April 9, 1933, to a wealthy Parisian family and grew up in the art community. His father was a well-known sculptor and his mother a painter.
He first began his career as an actor in theater, but later turned to film, becoming one of the most popular French actors with a career of half a century. AFP estimates that a total of 130 million movie tickets have been sold for his films. “
The actor has received several honorable film awards, including the Caesar Prize for Lifetime Achievement. In 2006, he was awarded the Order of the Commander of French Arts and Literature.
