The designer’s spokesman, Jean-Baptiste Rougeot, said Mugler died a natural death, but unexpectedly. “He worked on various projects and was planning to announce a new collaboration earlier this week,” he said.

Thierry Mugler was born in 1948 in Strasbourg. At the age of twenty, he came to Paris, where in 1973 he presented his first women’s collection, Café de Paris, and subsequently founded a company bearing his name.
