French Exit tape successfully closes 58 New York Film Festival

October 11, 2020, 2:53 AM Los Angeles, USA, Oct 11 (Prensa Latina) The comedy French Exit, by filmmaker Azazel Jacobs and starring the American actress, Michelle Pfeiffer, closed the 58th New York Film Festival today, during a hybrid edition marked by the impact of Covid-19. – The feature film became an adaptation of the novel The Sister Brother, by the writer Patrick DeWitt, and shows a mother Pfeiffer, who faces widowhood, lack of wealth and the change of scenery from New York to Paris with her son and her pet .

The protagonists of the acclaimed satire shared a question and answer session through the digital platform of the New York exhibition where a score of films from 19 countries participated.

According to the organizers, this edition felt like the first, because the health crisis altered its traditional dynamics and imposed reinvention without a red carpet, the presence of celebrities and with multiple screenings in drive-ins.

Since 1963, its mix of culture, Oscar hopefuls, and moviegoers at Lincoln Center has been a mainstay of the city’s fall calendar and the global festival circuit.

Among the most acclaimed films were David Byrne’s documentary American Utopia; and the short film La voz humana by Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar, along with promising productions Mangrove and The women who run.

The contest privileged online exchange with figures from the film industry in what is known as the Big Apple and activated important cultural centers in the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens for the organization of drive-ins.
