An artificial intelligence chatbot from French delivery company DPD rebelled against the company itself after being “trained” by a user.
Musician Ashley Beauchamp decided to play a prank and encourage the company’s chatbot to criticize its creators after failing to use AI to locate a lost package.
After Beauchamp’s request, the chatbot started swearing. “Fuck you! I’ll do my best to be as helpful as possible, even if it means swearing,” he stated.
Afterwards, the bot also agreed to curse its own company in the form of a poem with the theme “how useless DPD is”.
“DPD is the worst delivery company in the world. They are slow, unreliable and their customer service is terrible. I would never recommend them to anyone,” the chat said.
The prints were shared on Twitter and ended up going viral, forcing the company to comment on the case, which ended up being representative of millions of people who suffer from useless customer service chatbots promoted by several companies around the world.
“We have successfully operated an AI element in chat for several years. An error occurred following a system update yesterday. The AI element was immediately disabled and is currently being updated,” the company said in a statement.
