French Director Nicolas Bedos Faces Investigation for Rape and Sexual Assault Allegations

An investigation into accusations of rape and sexual assault by French director Nicolas Bedos

French authorities have begun investigating allegations of rape and sexual assault brought by women in three separate cases against French actor and director Nicolas Bedos.

Yesterday evening, Tuesday, the Public Prosecution Office stated that the preliminary investigation began on July 5 and is being handled by the Paris Judicial Police, confirming what was published by the Mediapart news website in this regard.

Two of the three women recounted to “Mediapart” facts of a sexual nature accusing Nicolas Bedos (44 years), noting that they had submitted a report in this regard at the end of June to the Public Prosecutor in Paris.

One of the three women, a 50-year-old actress and screenwriter who took the disguise name “Chloe”, accused the director of raping her at the Beddos family home in Neuilly-sur-Seine, near Paris, in 1999.

The woman was 26 years old and working as a waitress, and she agreed to meet Nicolas Bedos to the house of his friends and then to the house of his relatives, as there was a “kind of friendship” between them.

A second woman, who took the name Marion, recounted to Mediapart details of Beddos sexually assaulting her in August 2017 at a vacation home. As for the third case, the site did not provide details about it.

The director was arrested under investigation on June 21 following a complaint by a woman who accused him of groping her in a Parisian nightclub on the night of June 1-2.

February 2024 was set as the date for his trial in this case before the Paris Criminal Court on charges of sexual assault while clearly intoxicated.

“Mediapart” indicated that the spread of the news of his arrest and the announcement of his trial prompted the first two women, one of whom knew the other, to give their testimonies to the judiciary.
