French court issues arrest warrant for former Renault and Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn

According to a spokesman for Ghosn, he is “very surprised at the matter” and denies all blame. Ghosn lives in Lebanon, the country where his family originally came from and where he lived for a while as a teenager. In addition to the Lebanese, Ghosn also has French nationality and that of Brazil, where he was born.

Carlos Ghosn is in fact already on the run from justice, but from the Japanese justice system. He even spent some time in jail in Japan, then under house arrest and made a spectacular escape from that country. Since then, Ghosn has lived in Lebanon. That country has no extradition treaty with Japan and usually does not extradite compatriots. Japan doesn’t have much influence in Lebanon either, but France traditionally does and that can now start to play tricks on Ghosn.
