French Championships in Padel: A Success at the Columérin Complex in Toulouse

the essentials Last weekend, the Columérin complex hosted the French meeting for the first time with 64 pairs.

“No, I’m not afraid to say it (laughing). Toulouse and its outskirts are the capital of padel in France.” Co-manager of the 4Padel de Colomiers (alongside Sébastien Rousseau and Benjamin Garnier), Jonathan De Almeida thus summarizes the 8th edition of the French championships, contested for the first time on the Columérines slopes.

“Last winter, the French Tennis Federation surveyed us with a view to this event. It must be said that we had some experience in organizing big events. On two occasions, we had the qualifying phases of a stage of the World Padel Tour. And we also offer a P2000 category tournament, the 2023 edition of which took place just before these France. As a result, there was no hesitation to agree to organize these championships.” , explains Jonathan De Almeida, whose complex has eight indoor tracks and three outdoor ones.

“Our members were understanding”

On the menu, thirty-two female pairs and thirty-two male duos arrived in Colomiers. “Our members were understanding. Certainly, they did not have the usual access to the slopes. But I think they were especially happy to see that the flagship event of padel in France was taking place at home. We thank again the FFT for its trust, without forgetting our staff present throughout the weekend”, continues the co-manager.

On the public side, there too, a total success. “We were a hit during the three days,” confirms Jonathan De Almeida who counts between 120 and 180 practitioners daily, from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Note that in its agenda the 4Padel will continue with two other organizations: on October 20 and 21, the structure will host the 1st Open padel for law enforcement; then in November, the Cupra Master Tour will take over.
