Electric bicycles and also motorcycles are quiet, easy to drive, quite powerful and also able to travel long enough distances, which gives them obvious advantages in a military environment. The French Army’s technical support innovation group has begun evaluating the “LMX 56” electric bicycle and the “LMX 161” electric motorcycle developed by a local French manufacturer.
This type of equipment has proved itself quite well in the war started by the Russians in Ukraine, where it is the Ukrainian army that uses them – drive up quietly, complete the task and leave quickly, without unnecessary noise.

The results of the first tests are promising enough, but various tests will continue throughout this year, with army representatives testing various aspects of these vehicles to determine whether or not they are suitable for the needs of the French army.
If we take a closer look at the parameters of the two specific vehicles, they are quite interesting – “LMX 56” develops a maximum power of 2500 watts and has a torque of 175Nm. It is equipped with a capacious battery, the manufacturer promises up to 100 kilometers on a single charge, and it is designed exclusively for off-road use. The “LMX 161” is advertised as a motocross bike with modern suspension solutions as well as off-road tires. In terms of power, it is comparable to a regular 125cc motorcycle, but the manufacturer promises that it is half as light as motorcycles with gasoline engines.
