French actor Gaspard Ulliel passed away on Wednesday at the age of 37. He had previously been seriously injured in a skiing accident in the French Savoie. His family said in a statement.

On Tuesday afternoon, French actor Gaspard Ulliel fell while skiing in Savoie, near Lyon. He bumped into another skier at the intersection of two blue runs. He was taken to hospital unconscious and succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
The French actor first really made himself heard at the age of 19, when he was seen alongside Emmanuelle Béart in The Lost by André Techine. A year later, he was featured in the award-winning war film A long engagement Sunday by the director of Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain. In 2005, Ulliel received a César for best male young talent for his role alongside Audrey Tautou. For his role in Just the end of the world in 2017 he received the César for best actor from Xavier Dolan.
The actor also appeared as a young Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising (2007) and as a young Yves Saint-Laurent in the YSL biopic Saint Laurent (2014). He was also ambassador of the fashion brand Chanel and several times the face of men’s perfume Bleu de Chanel.
