Gigano, a nurse from Nantes, France, had gone on vacation to Crete alone. On June 24, she informed her parents that she was going to Elafonissi on foot from Chania. She was supposed to stay two nights in a hotel in the village of Palaiochora, but according to Creta Post, she never arrived there.
On June 29, Violet would fly back to France. But the woman did not come home. That is why the French police were called in, who informed their colleagues in Greece.

On Thursday, Violet Gigano’s body was found in a ravine next to a hiking trail. The woman’s car was also found in the Krios area, between Chania and Elafonissi.
It is not yet clear how the woman died. Gigano may have fallen, but other scenarios are not yet ruled out. An autopsy will be performed on the body. The woman’s car will also be examined.
