A little further, in front of the Notre-Dame basilica, the municipal police officers keep watch. “Sir, please, you have to wear the mask, it’s now compulsory on public roads”, throws one of them to a passerby. The latter does so without flinching, apparently surprised by the news.

“There is absolutely no question of verbalizing this weekend, explains Philippe, one of the two police officers. It is true that not everyone is aware of it yet. We are therefore above all in dialogue and prevention, today and tomorrow. “

This tolerance is also expressed among the police in Fréjus. “We are aware that not everyone is necessarily aware of this decree, admits Hervé Eygazier, at the head of the municipal police. This is why we are above all in prevention, we inform the inhabitants of the content of the prefectural decree. Especially since there is also the attack alert plan, the priority is people’s safety. However, we will be stricter when it comes to wearing a mask from next week. “
