Berlin (dpa / bb) – With a pilot project for self-filmed corona tests, indoor catering has opened for guests in selected restaurants in Berlin-Mitte. Eight restaurants such as Borchardt in the Französische Straße or the Permanent Representation on Schifferbauerdamm are taking part in the campaign that started on Saturday, according to a spokeswoman for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK). The aim is to develop a perspective for the nationwide opening of indoor catering during the pandemic.
Guests must purchase a commercial rapid test and reserve a table at the restaurant of their choice. From there you will receive a free registration code for the mobile phone app of the Coronatest portal Homedx.de. You have to film and upload your ID card and the test procedure. The district office Mitte, the diagnostics network Berlin-Brandenburg, the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Enterprises as well as IHK and Dehoga Berlin are involved. Anyone can take part.
Qualified diagnosticians should then verify the identity and the proper performance of the test. If the result is negative, a forgery-proof certificate is sent to the cell phone – as an entrance ticket to the restaurant. A survey of participating restaurants on Saturday lunchtime initially showed only moderate interest among the guests.
The pilot project is scheduled to run until June 18 and is then to be scientifically evaluated. Before all interiors can be opened, it must be checked whether online tests can replace a visit to a “test-to-go” station, said the district mayor of Berlin Mitte, Stefan Dassel (Greens). It should also be checked whether there is an increased risk of infection with the opening.
